A residential building that had caught alight in Berlin was in need of restoration. To protect the roof frame against the weather for the duration of the work, the professional scaffolding assemblers at A. Walther Gerüstbau constructed a Keder Roof XL with a span of approximately 20 m. Thanks to the different bracing variants available, this can even be used to protect against heavy snow loads and is economical to construct. This is possible thanks to the lightweight aluminium parts, the integrated Keder sections and the connection technology using snap-on claws. The AGS components used with the work and support scaffolding ensured fast and safer assembly and dismantling. It was also possible to bridge over an adjoining building without difficulty using the Aluminium TwixBeam. A system-oriented solution.
- 600 m² Keder Roof XL used as temporary weather protection roof. The roof trusses were simply pre-assembled on the ground and lifted into place by crane.
- Fast, safer assembly of the work and support scaffolding in accordance with safety regulations using the modular access system AGS – including advancing guardrail assembly.
- Compliance with site requirements posed no problem thanks to the ability to combine the components with Allround Scaffolding – for example, the material-saving Allround bracket, which can be used to support the roof when the scaffolding assembly surface is inadequate, as well as scaffolding bracing using the external Allround rosette
- Bridging over an adjoining building using the Aluminium TwixBeam as roof support
- Trouble-free assembly thanks to digital processes based on the use of a digital twin of the scaffolding: Precise preliminary 3D planning in LayPLAN CAD. Reliable material lists at the touch of a button with LayPLAN MATERIALMANAGER. Simple transfer of the 3D scaffolding model and all the relevant data via LayPLAN TO RSTAB for structural strength verification. Use of the SIM2Field XR app to assist during assembly based on the 3D scaffolding model
It was not possible to construct support scaffolding close to an adjoining building.
Thanks to the Aluminium TwixBeam, the assemblers were able to bridge over this area without difficulty.

The roof trusses of the Keder Roof XL were pre-assembled on the ground and then simply mounted on the already constructed work and support scaffolding by crane.

Thanks to the 3D planning in LayPLAN CAD, Layher’s application engineers were able to meet all the site requirements with absolute precision. With the new SIM2Field XR app, the assemblers were also able to use the 3D model during the construction phase – greatly simplifying the assembly work.
