A flexible solution for a complex project

The poorly accessible location was not the only challenge when scaffolding was being put in place at the Killerhof Bridge – a vital traffic link for both vehicles and pedestrians in Valais, Switzerland. The 130 metre-long scaffolding for repairing this monumental arched structure also had to be adapted quickly and optimally to local conditions – without work on the scaffolding being impeded by numerous suspended components. The solution? The Aluminium FlexBeam in combination with modular Allround Scaffolding.
The parts, light and compact yet strong, ensured efficiency in logistics and assembly, and also greater safety during use.

  • Detailed advance planning in 3D using LayPLAN CAD by Layher’s applications engineers. This also facilitated the logistics later on: dependable material lists were easy to generate at the push of a button via LayPLAN MATERIALMANAGER
  • Efficient assembly of the bridge underside scaffolding using the Aluminium FlexBeam: the high load-bearing capacity means that fewer suspension points are needed. Scaffolding decks are also easy to suspend. This reduces assembly times and permits work on the scaffolding without disruption
  • Easy attachment of further solutions, such as side protection on the sides of the bridge, a walkway or a stairtower, using Allround Scaffolding – made from standard parts

The high load-bearing capacity of the Aluminium FlexBeam allows the suspension configuration to be widened. That speeds up assembly and also facilitates work underneath the bridge later on.

Greater safety is also assured:
in combination with Allround Scaffolding, the side protection can also be fitted quickly at the edges of the bridge using standard parts.
